iKabs Ltd can offer a fully approved CCTV system for Hackney Cabs at no cost to either the driver or the local authority. We are able to do this by generating revenue from in-cab digital advertising which is displayed on a discretely placed non-audio screen fitted in every cab will install with CCTV.

The process is simple: we need full approval, at committee level, to install the CCTV and digital display screens. We then work with the local licensing team to inform the drivers that the systems are available to them free of charge and compile a list of drivers interested in having the system installed. The next step is to work through the list and install the systems until all the cabs whose drivers have requested an installation have been fitted.

The CCTV systems that we install record continuous footage. The footage is time coded and date stamped and is permissible as evidence in UK courts. The footage can only be accessed by officers authorised by the council to retrieve the data using specialist encoded software.

Information for Taxi Drivers

If you are a licensed hackney driver working in an area where we are authorised to install our systems we can offer you a completely free of charge CCTV system fully installed in your cab. 

We are able to fit a free CCTV system in your cab because we generate revenue from digital advertising which will be displayed on a discretely placed non-audio screen fitted in your vehicle. The revenue generated from the advertising pays for the system and its continued maintenance.
